New kitchen brings cooking skills and community support to families in Oban | About us

Creating places where people want to live, in homes designed to meet net zero targets

C~urb provides sector leading property development, management and maintenance services, throughout Scotland.

Creating sustainable communities is our central aim, and we do this by building sustainably, maintaining homes efficiently and by managing ethically.

We will do this in a manner that minimises our impact on the environment and where we can, reverse the impact of Carbon emissions and c~urb greenhouse gases.

We’re new, but more than 60 years in the making. C~urb is a subsidiary of Link Group, established in 1962, which is a values led, highly accredited group of social enterprise companies; aimed at improving lives through quality, affordable housing and related services.

C~urb launched in 2022, to bring its expertise to a wider market including RSLs, Local Authorities and the Scottish Government, as well as private companies and investors.

We invest in our staff through mandatory training and learning development, ensuring the highest standards are continually provided and match the relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.

We are unique; providing full end to end asset development, maintenance and management services, or bespoke individual functions, tuned to our clients’ needs.

Building, managing and maintaining homes for investor led portfolios

We can offer a unique and seamless service for investor led portfolio acquisition, whether that’s existing portfolios, or developing new property assets from feasibility to occupation and managing and maintaining throughout the asset’s life. Principally, we are deploying our expert teams to support private sector development in the same way as we’ve been delivering these bespoke services for Link and other clients for many years.

The integrated service also provides end-to-end contact with housing and landlord teams giving an added layer of property protection and tenancy management.

A brand-new kitchen at Home-Start Lorn’s Oban headquarters is set to bring families and the local community together through cooking, thanks to a collaboration between Link Group, C~urb, and kitchen supplier Moores.

Home-Start Lorn, part of the nationwide Home-Start network, has been providing one-to-one support, friendship, and practical help to families in the West Highlands since 1988.

The organisation believes in giving children a happy and secure childhood by supporting parents to provide  a strong foundation  for their future.

Hannah Gillies, Home-Start Lorn's Manager, said: “Meals often bring families and communities together.

“Thanks to this new kitchen, children and families will not only enjoy delicious home-cooked meals but also gain valuable skills to prepare affordable and nutritious food at home.”

The newly designed kitchen will not only offer a welcoming space for preparing and enjoying meals but also help families develop essential life skills. Parents and children will have the opportunity to learn how to cook nutritious meals, budget for grocery shopping, and  maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.

Moores Sales Director David Rawle said: “Moores has worked in partnership with Link  and C~urb for many years. The positive impact this important initiative at the Home-Start Headquarters in Oban will have in the community during challenging times is something we are very proud to be a part of.”

Sarah Smith, Link Group’s Director of  Communities added: “Some families are struggling to put food on the table, so this new kitchen will make a real difference.

“Warm spaces, social connection and home-cooked meals are vital in helping those experiencing tough times.”

Colin Culross, Link Group’s Commercial Director and C~urb’s Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to work with Link and Moores on designing this fantastic kitchen, which will provide a safe and welcoming space for families to cook and enjoy meals together.”

West Highland Housing Association is among the Link group of companies. It's Chief Executive, Brett Sadler, commented: “As a local housing association, we see first-hand the positive impact of Home-Start Lorn.

“This modern kitchen will be another way they can support the community.”
